At Solo Interior, we’re always looking for pieces that carry meaning: items that bring beauty into a space and give something back. That’s why we’re so proud to introduce a truly special collection of handmade Colombian lampshades, crafted by indigenous artisans in the heart of Colombia.
In northern Colombia, the Zenú people have been working with natural fibres for centuries, creating beautiful, practical pieces deeply rooted in tradition.
These stunning lampshades are made from locally sourced rattan (flecha) and mimbre, which are carefully split into fine strips and woven entirely by hand. Each piece reflects the rhythm of village life, the knowledge passed down through generations, and the pride of a craft that continues to thrive. The natural tones and patterns reflect both the skill of the maker and the timeless beauty of traditional craftsmanship.
The connection to Colombia came through Jacob, a Danish photographer with a deep love for authentic design and sustainable living. While travelling through Colombia, he was drawn to the incredible skill of the Zenú artisans.
Jacob partnered with local people to help share their work with the world, hoping to create fair, lasting opportunities by linking craftsmanship to conscious design. His long-term vision, which we’re proud to support, is to contribute directly to the social and economic development of the village.
The lampshades are both simple and beautiful — with organic shapes, soft neutrals, and a warm, woven texture that blends beautifully with our relaxed Mediterranean interiors. They bring a quiet elegance to any space, whether casting a soft glow over a dining table or adding texture to a reading corner. Every shade is unique, full of character, and designed to bring warmth and authenticity into modern interiors.
